Both my hubby and I love to eat out and sometimes it is the only time we get to sit down and chat about plans, what’s going on and general chatter so we are very lucky to have some fabulous places to sit put the world to rights, eat great food and drink a bottle of wine or two!!
One of our go to places is The Sir Garnet – perfect for lunch to escape from the crowds on a Saturday lunchtime with their market tapas – delicious small plates of food direct from the next door market. and then one of the best Sunday roasts in town washed down with Prosecco as done by the landlady herself – Lauren Gregory or a bottle of one of the very good red wines they sell.
Two other places I love to eat are Franks Bar and now on my side of town the newly opened North – run by a fabulous duo James and Ella – their food has a distinct middle eastern flavour with interesting dishes that are something a little different, with regular bands, films and events in both venues it is always a great place to be.
Wine and cheese are always on my food list so the joy of having to fabulous places in Norwich that I can indulge both which is great for the taste buds if not for the waistline – first up is Wallow – lots of different wine on tap – how cool is that, your top up your “credit card” and then help your self to which ever one you fancy and to soak of the alcohol they do great anti-pasta, charcuterie and cheese boards too!!
With a cheese board to die for and wine all selected from France – Les Garrigues – is my food heaven. Take home your wine or French food or eat in and watch people through the window – you could be in Paris – bliss!!
Just next door is another new addition to Norwich run by husband and wife team Figbar will indulge your sweet tooth with deserts, cakes and other sweet treats with great coffee from the best automatic espresso machine and wines to compliment.
For lingering longer over wine and chats my go to evening, (great for lunch too) venue has to be a long standing restaurant The Last Wine Bar – it is a fabulous place to sit chat and sip from there great wine list. Another favourite is Trattatoria Rustica – we haven’t been to this one for a while but a friend reminded me how good the lasagna was so it is on the list to go back to very soon – I just love the décor so “very Italian”!!
One final one on my list – although I could add many more as there are so others that I love too but this one is a treat for fine dining.
Richard Bainbridge set up Benedicts earlier this year and it has fast become the talk of the town with unusual combinations using locally sourced products and the most amazing flavours and design on a plate!!
Have you got your favourites that let me know where you would recommend?
